Los Campesinos! - We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed

Release Date: 11/11/08
Genre: Indie Pop

Only 33 weeks after their debut album comes their second album. Crazy. It's not a b-sides album either. It's gonna be hard to not compare, but I have to. Hold on Now, Youngster... is so addictive.

Review: This album didn't grab me like their first. I think this is more darker in a way. Like the first one felt really alive and teenage playground while this is more heartbreak and angry at the people around you. I'm guessing I'm wrong because the male vocalist is more dominate this time around and he has a strong British accent. Also, it feels like the male/female singing sounds too separated this time around. Before, it just fit really well even though one was pretty and the other was high pitchy.

The first half is actually pretty cool. Second half only comes out as okay. It just felt like any other 5+ member band that likes to shout a lot. Still a fun band, but I don't think it matches their debut at all.

"Shout at the world because the world doesn't love you!"

Summary: The worst song on Hold on Now, Youngster... is better than the best song on this album. REALITY!

Key Tracks: Ways To Make It Through The Wall, It's Never That Easy Though, Is It? (Song For The Other Kurt)
Rating: 6/10
