Release Date: June 9th, 2021
The title track off their 10th mini-album. It's tricky to express myself because I love Twice, their discography is huge and has so many catchy tunes. "More & More" was not what I wanted, but I learn to like it. "I Can't Stop Me" was following the 80s trend, but I learn to like it. This song is different. It's not cute or sugary. It's a bossa nova track, kind of like Nintendo menu music. It sounds good, the vocals are clean, and the song is smooth all the way, very relaxing and chill.
The song has been out for 20 hours and I know the song will grow on me like previous songs, but at the moment, I don't think the song is a good pick for a title track. I imagine it'll sound good as part of a collection of songs, as a b-side. For what it is now, Alcohol-Free doesn't have a catchy hook. It doesn't hit my ears very hard. I made a joke on Twitter that I hope the chorus isn't something stupid like "alcohol-hol-hol FREE," but what we got doesn't have any memorable or obnoxious hooks. So I'm lost. NiziU prove that JPY can still do the cute bubbly songs.
The song sounds very good, but on day one, it's not what I want in my Twice songs.
Rating: 7/10
