Itzy - Guess Who

Release Date: April 30th, 2021
Genre: kpop

It's tricky, I like the girls from Itzy, but sometimes, I feel like their songs are catchy as fuck (wannabe), and sometimes I feel like their songs are on the obnoxious side kpop (ting ting ting).

Review
: As a title track, I get it, "in the morning" feels explosive and the girls have crazy charisma when they deliver their killing parts. I know they are all good at English, but I'm glad it's mostly korean lyrics here, still, my pet peeve in kpop is when a song sounds good, but they focus on a certain English word for the chorus. I'm fine with the song, but when I get to track 2 and 3, it does lose a few points.

When they released "Not Shy," the teaser pictures had a cowboy feel to it. Well for "Sorry Not Sorry," it had this awesome guitar to it, it just reminds me of some cowboy shit. I think it's a stronger stand-alone song. Then for "Kidding Me," I think it pairs with the title track more. I'm not sure how to describe it, it just sounds like adrenaline.

"Wild Wild West" is of course, cowboy theme. I think it's annoying, but I also think when performed live, it would be fun, similar to Twice's "Stuck In My Head."

For "Shoot!" it's only 2:19 long, and it's growing on me. Because of the "-ooo" parts, it reminds me of soulja boy. Lastly, "Tennis (0:0)" is an interesting name for a song, makes me wonder if it had anything to do with the zero score to mean love. It's very playful. Anyways, I really like the soft voices during the verses, but not feeling the chorus.

Tracklist/Scorecard
:
1. In the morning 8/10
2. Sorry Not Sorry 9/10
3. KIDDING ME 9/10
4. Wild Wild West 6/10
5. SHOOT! 8/10
6. TENNIS (0:0) 7/10

Summary
: I wish they made more catchy as fuck songs like Icy and Wannabe, but they are continuing with being strong, fighting girls. With all that being said, I do watch some of Itzy's extra content (english interviews) and from my experience with Twice and Iz*one, when they use their own music as BGM, it grows on you.

Key Tracks
: Sorry Not Sorry, Kidding Me

: 7/10
