2010 song of the week: Sage Francis - The Best of Times

carrymind: There is no carrymind!

Holy. Lost was amazing!

Why did Miley do this?

2010 song of the week: Katy Perry - California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg

carrymind: Moi aussi, je t'aime

No Lost this week!

Am i finally going to start reviewing music again? lol.

2010 song of the week: Christina Aguilera - Not Myself Tonight

carrymind: Can we pretend that...

Lost was amazing!

so Gaslight Anthem leaked..it's great!
so the National leaked..it's what I needed!
so lots of others got leaked as well, but The national are the only thing i want to hear. And I'm working on my reviews actually. trying to tweet my rating system.

2010 song of the week: B.o.B – Airplanes (feat. Hayley Williams)

carrymind: i defend my family with my orange umbrella

Lost was brilliant! Desmond's car had anti-Locke brakes!

My Katie Stevens is gone from Idol. I liked her big voice. She's not a robot to me.

Future Island - huh? pretty smooth ride, but not aoty good.

Kina Grannis - I didn't know she had an album. I really enjoyed this one

LCD Soundsystem - YEAHHHHhh

Broken Social Scene - hmm.

The National - Afraid of Everyone - amazing song. I heard 5 songs so far from High Violet and so far it's excellent.

Band of Horses - Laredo - Didn't like it.

carrymind: Goodbye Didi

I didn't think she would win, but her personality was great. She has this 'I'm your friend' voice rather than a superstar. I hope she makes an album. Why did Usher sing that song with autotune?

Lost was Great! I don't know the centric episodes so I'm so glad to see ******* back.

I loosely listened to the new Erykah Badu album. I'm not amazed. I suck.

Lots of comments that Fang Island are one of the best albums so far, it's pretty good.

This blog is rubbish.

2010 song of the week: The New Pornographers - Crash Years

carrymind: Let's get on with it

Lost was... supposedly the greatest episode of Lost ever, but for me, it was confirmation of what I felt inside, but it's still not exactly 'clear' so that's what frustrated me. I'm guessing we won't get a definite answer to how the island is there in the first place or who set the rules. We just have to wait for how the show ends.

New LCD Soundsystem song is great. Drunk Girls.

New The National song is amazing. Bloodbuzz Ohio

-----------------------

So it's been bugging me that I never made a list of my top songs of the 2000s and whenever I revisit songs on my ipod, I just get this urge to write stuff down. So to finally put this matter to rest, here are my top 10 songs of the 00s. It's a different approach than my album list. It holds meaning rather than music I feel is at the top of the batch.

11. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
10. Sun Kil Moon - Glenn Tipton
9. Okkervil River - Westfall
8. Sigur Rós - Olsen Olsen
7. Moving Mountains - 8105
6. Sufjan Stevens - The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!
5. Wolf Parade - I'll Believe in Anything
4. The National - Slow Show
3. Savage Garden - Crash and Burn
2. Lifehouse - Breathing
1. Michelle Branch - All You Wanted

2010 song of the week: Charice - Pyramid ft. Iyaz

carrymind: The Melancholy

Lost was hmm...decent. But next episode is going to be the best episode ever or else I'm gonna be pissed! Since the season 3 finale disaters, I've been telling myself to do all I can to stay away from jerks trying to ruin the series finale and boom, look! It's finally happening. Not sure how I'll do it. two months without doing my normal internet things seems too much. But for sure, I'll be anti-internet when episode 12 airs.

She & Him - Very hard to gauge. She sounds the same, but the music just doesn't grab me like their debut.

Laura Marling - Same problem. Her debut was crazy love, but here, she sounds too mature. I didn't feel that spark anymore. the new version of Blackberry Stone is great.

The Tallest Man On Earth - Very good stuff. I thought he was fairly overrated in 2008 as all i could think was he was channeling dylan too much. but on this record, I just enjoy it so I'll leave it like that.

2010 Song of the Week: Laura Marling - Blackberry Stone

Lost was amazing! Looks like act 1 of the final season is over.

90s song of the week: Outhere Brothers - Boom Boom Boom

New LCD Soundsystem and The National albums in May! Jessica Harp is going to stop going for a singing career and go full-on songwriting. Lifehouse makes good b-sides.

2010 song of the week: Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart ft. Ludacris

So Lost was Amazing! again.

I've been keeping track of American Idol this year just because it's Simon's last year and the show doesn't require me to analyze everything the way Lost does. Now there are too many contestants for me to remember, but I remember being pleased with some of the talent during auditions and hollywood week, yet when they revealed the top 24, some of those people were clearly not that good. Long live Hope Johnson. Didi was my favorite going into the top 24 performance, but almost everyone sucked. Crystal was the only one that came off to me as 'music is my life.' Some of the guys are good. I like Andrew and Jermaine and Casey.

90s song of the week: The Breeders - Cannonball

2010: All I will say is that Joanna Newsom took over my week's playlist and I'm so glad I spend the time I did with it. So worth it.

2010 song of the week: Joanna Newsom - Baby Birch

carrymind: The Candidate

This week's episode of Lost was Amazing!

90s song of the week: The Cure - Friday I'm in Love

2010: I'm sure I listen to others, but I don't really have a grasp of anything other than the two albums I was looking forward to the most this quarter.

Joanna Newsom - holy cow. Very hard to make my opinion now as it's 2 hours of music with some instant like-ables with others that need time to grow. Honestly..it gets boring at times, but to sum it up quickly...it's less weird than her past work

Frightened Rabbit - Heck yah! did they top their second album? of course not, that album was perfect. but it's good.

2010s song of the week: Frightened Rabbit - Nothing Like You

carrymind: No Way, new Lifehouse album is out!

It's so weird, usually when an album is out, it's everywhere, but I had trouble finding the new Lifehouse album. google is taking down all the music blogs, but I managed to find the album on some Chinese forum which gave me the filesize..which helped me find a working link. thanks to google. lol

But before I forget, This week's episode of Lost was NOT amazing. In fact, I'm scared. What the hell is going on? I have no ideal ending because I'm not sure what's important to the show anymore.

My aussie friend sang me a song. Why?

Why is the milk gone. I usually eat cereal when I blog.

90s - blah, nothing

90s song of the week: Janet Jackson - Again

2010: Lifehouse - Album number 5 doesn't suck! Yes! But a few songs really hurt the flow so that makes it flawed.

E.S. Posthumus - amazing! Finally a true follow up to Unearthed.

Rocky Votolato - I remember i used to love this guy. New album is okay.

Lil Wayne - I actually dig'd his rap stuff, but this album is bad as the critic say.

Balmorhea - Once again. this band keeps making good music. their 2009 album is still the best.

[post-foetus] - nice guy, nice music. vocals suck lol.

2010 song of the week: Lifehouse - It Is What It Is

carrymind: 99.7

Lost was amazing!

So I stopped bringing CDs into the car and just listen to the radio. Back when i was a regualar, i listened to 101.3, 104.9, and 106.5...but theres this new station, 99.7 that just plays the most infectious driving music. I don't know what it is, but it's so better than lite-rock or whatever it's called.

Down
Replay
Baby
Sexy Bitch
Knock You Down

I'm surprise there's no video for Meet Me Halfway. That beat is sick. But oddly enough, listening to these songs on the computer just feels different. But in the car...it's a blast.

90s - blah, nothing

90's Song of the week: Blues Traveler - Run-Around

2010: Who the heck is Lady Antebellum? I'm slow, but wow, they make decent country music.

jj - new album isn't bad, but it's weaker than their debut. Some nice stuff, but it's not new and fresh anymore.

Midlake - Very easy/mellow listen.

Moonface - Starts really good, ends kind of sour.

Owen Pallett - I really wanted to like him, but he isn't blowing my ears yet.

2010 song of the week: Jonsi - Go Do

carrymind: Dear Internet

Title would have made sense last week, but I was unmotivated. So I wanna touch upon Conan for a bit. Usually when you tell a story, the beginning is the best place and I've been stuck sitting here trying to remember, but I really don't know. All I can say is that for me, Conan has been my Late Night entertainer for nearly half of my life now and it sucked when he wasn't on for 3 months in 2009, now at best he won't be on until September. I'm not mad at Leno, but holy crap he really hurt his own legacy. Best wishes Conan. Thanks for the laughs

And of course Lost. The replay value is really hurting me of naming it my favorite show. I've been rewatching random episodes here and there and it's really hard to focus because there's so much irrelevant stuff. I find myself rewatching Glee more enjoyable. Anyways, going into Season 6 this Tuesday will be very sad. I had no idea where they plan on going so I have no expectations.

but enough about that Let's talk Music.

90s: I gave Bee Thousand a listen. I didn't like it at all. 69 Love Songs is pretty cool.

90s song of the moment: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue

2010: I downloaded stuff, but haven't listen to yet. I think I'm finally burnt out on Lady Gaga, but Bad Romance is still an excellent song. My biggest surprise was this album from Surfer Blood. They got BNM on Pitchfork which made me kind of *silent* on it, but it's really good. Perhaps my favorite album so far of the year.

Laura Veirs - July Flame, is a really enjoyable listen. I love female folk stuff so it's not hard for her to get into my shell.

The American Dollar - Atlas, It's really great seeing them dish out new music every year and it's really consistence. Nothing more than that. I hate using the word safe on music I enjoy, but if you're familiar with their work, you won't be disappointed.

2010 song of the moment: Joanna Newsom - '81

carrymind: That show, Life Unexpected looks good

What happen to my weekly updates? Well my 1 year Anniversary for AO is coming...after that I'll update more.

Animal Collective - Brother Sport

So when I started my decade list last year, I made a mental note of what my number 1 would be and tried to compare every album to it. And it worked well IMO. So I tried the same thing with my 90s list, I figured In the Aeroplane or Either/Or would be 1st, but as i opened up myself to genres I initially closed off, I think any album could take over. Good music doesn't get old so I like stuff that feels fresh, no matter what era. I even tried listening to Pavement and it's so weird. I kinda dig them. Maybe my subconscious remembers them so they appear to be familiar and therefore I'm getting a false sense that I like them. Good music is unpredictable. I still can't believe I'm a Lady GaGa fan.

90s: So where do I start? Well yeah, don't hate, but I googled 'best albums of the 1990s' and I pretty much downloaded everything near the top 10. If we could count Greatest Hits. ABBA would be in the top 10. I remember liking The Colour and the Shape, but I'm just not feeling it anymore. But Jagged Little Pill, wow man, this is the shit. I just need some background music and boom, that album breezes by. If it makes my top 10, i'll have no shame. I like Weezer's blue album too. It's strange cuz their 00s materials was iffy, yet the blue album is pretty much 9/10 material the whole time. Ocean Beach from Red House Painters = oh my godd. And It's so surreal knowing that Matchbox Twenty had an album from 1996 and it contained three songs I forgot about. Real World, 3AM, Push. What the hell?

Exploring is fun. Come explore with me. I'm gonna tackle this britpop. Let's go Blur.

I also downloaded this boxset. Whatever: the 90s pop and culture boxset

Half of it is stuff i never heard of. Anyone have another compilation that is more nostalgia?

90s song of the week: Shania Twain - From This Moment On

2010: Yeasayer's new album, Old Blood is great. But I get tired for the final 3 tracks. So I'm not sure what it is as a whole. There's a shift in feel after track 5. We'll see but for now, it's a 8/10.

Vampire Weekend's Contra is pretty much what their second album is suppose to sound like. I still prefer their debut and I'm sure lots of people agree on it. Maybe it's cuz this album had no surprise jems. The middle just sounds weak imo. Horchata will probably make my year's end list.

Los Campesinos! - Romance Is Boring....disappointing. Well...maybe it'll grow on me, but I don't see it happening. My love for Indie pop has been replaced with ..ladygaga pop. So I'm not really pleased with it.

I know Beach House and Spoon both leaked, but I haven't listen to them yet. I also downloaded Usher and Ke$ha. It's hard for me to get past the first few tracks, especially Ke$ha. *shrugs*

2010 song of the week: Yeasayer - One
